Depicts purple jellydisc fungi growing from a decaying log, also called a “nurse log” because of the rich nutrients within it. Rather than going to waste, these nutrients are absorbed by emerging life in the form of insects, bacteria, lichens and mosses, fungi, ferns, sapling trees and many others. The nurse log helps to nourish others, aiding the collective thriving of the forested ecosystem.
